Coccolithophores (2025)
“Coccolithophores” celebrates the beauty, complexity, and importance of life at a microscopic scale, inviting viewers to reflect on the invisible systems that help maintain our planet. These intricate forms are made of calcium carbonate—simply chalk. These tiny, calcified shells carry carbon to the ocean floor, where it is stored for thousands of years, playing a vital role in Earth’s natural balance.
Coccolithophores are especially sensitive to changes in ocean chemistry, making them an early warning sign for the health of our seas. I’m drawn to their delicate beauty and silent, essential work—tiny organisms performing a global service.
